Men in the Sun
The exhibition "Men in the Sun" deals with contemporary Palestinian art made by artists living in Israel. The title is taken from a short story by Ghassan Kanafani: three Palestinian workers try to find work in the Gulf states. They hide inside an empty water container and when the truck transporting them is delayed at the border checkpoint in the desert, they are afraid to shout and die of heat inside the container. The cover of the catalogue conveys the sensation of being blinded by the desert sun without getting carried away to sentimentality. The articles in the catalogue appear in Arabic, Hebrew, and English. We created an easy differentiation between the languages by changing paper shades and typographic icons.
